This is a free rally for paid up Fed members to help us celebrate our 25th anniversary.

This will be for one unit of two Adults and three kids, Friday & Saturday Night, also includes a free tickets for hog roast on Saturday.

26th June

Meriden TOMCC.

We are helping to organise a local charity event which will take place on the last Sunday in June (26th) 2016. The Meriden branch of the Rotary club has historically been holding this event for a number of years and have asked for our help to expand the event, and involve more motorcycle groups. The event involves a motorcycle ride - in from Alcester through some lovely Warwickshire countryside into Meriden, where we park up in the field of one of the local pubs for some food, drinks and music. This year we had around 150 motorcyclists take part who all paid a donation to charity to take part, thelocal community is involved too and there are some stalls etc on the field.
  We met some of your guys at Slimbridge earlier this year when we attended our National AGM and were wondering if you would be interested in adding this event to your calendar for next year.
There is a basic camp site next door (lovely flat field and toilets) . We are negotiating a price for camping over the weekend of the Megaride and will forward details asap if you are interested. This year we raised aprox £2,000 for the Air Ambulance and the Princes Trust. The band this year was "The Firm" who went down very well on the afternoon.

Heated toilet & shower block offers spacious shower cubicles, hair dryer & shaver points and a disabled wet room. The kitchen has 2 large sinks, food prep area and a freezer for your ice blocks. Well stocked shop & off licence, gas exchange, large children's play area & skateboard ramp, wifi, mobile phone top ups, information hut, fish & chip van Saturday. The crown (1 mile) a friendly family pub with great home cooked food.

On Saturday there will be a run out followed by a BBQ, raffle and awards.

Team Grim Autumn 2016 sidecar camping weekend

 

Venue:  The Woodbridge Inn,  North Newnton, Pewsey, Wiltshire, SN9 6JZ

Directions:The Campsite is beside the Woodbridge Inn and accessed through the carpark, which is situated on a small roundabout approx 1 mile north of Upavon on the A345, and 2 miles south west of Pewsey on the A345.

Facilities:  Country pub, small restaurant, campsite with Toilet and shower block.

Additional Info:  Please check out their website for full details especially if you plan to arrive in a van or camper ,

and please note that we will not be doing a BBQ as there are facilities on site. Dogs are allowed on site but

must be kept under control as are children with the same requirement, especially as there is a river running

around two sides of the campsite.

Cost   £6.00/ night for single adult, £10.00/ night for 2 adults in same tent, from the 16th Sept.  Accompanied kids in

the parental tent are free.  Campers and Caravans will be £15.00 / night, these are discounted prices and this rate

is only available for the duration of the rally.

THE ISLE OF MAN 'SIDECAR 70'

The Federation of Sidecar Clubs is planning a special event for 2016, open to all sidecarrists and based on the Isle of Man.

The Concept

Helen Gibson - a name that will be familiar to sidecar racing fans – has had an illustrious career as a top sidecar racing passenger

In her 40s she took part in F2 sidecar races at Crail, Knockhill and East Fortune and her favourite course, the Southern 100, having previously been a meeting secretary, first-aider, circuit marshal, photographer, correspondent and much more.

Now approaching her 70th birthday (17 September 2016) and living on the Island, Helen realises she has never been a passenger in a road-going outfit. So the idea is to get 70 outfits over to the Isle of Man and take Helen out for a special birthday spin in a sidecar - on the TT course! Participants would pay a small entry fee and there would be some other fundraising activities - all proceeds going to local charity, the TT Riders Association.

As well as making Helen's day (hopefully!), this will be a great opportunity to visit the Isle of Man in the company of other sidecarrists. The Isle of Man after all holds a great mystique for all motorcyclists, even those not involved in racing.

The Logistics

So are you interested in taking your outfit over to the Island for this event around Saturday 17 September? It won't be a rigidly organised event – you will be free to travel when you wish via Heysham or Liverpool and you'll be free to choose between camping, B&B or hotels.

Helen is well-connected locally and has already got us an indication of some of the discounts available - for example:

4* hotel, crossing for car + 2 people 2 nights = £55 (crossing) +  £145-£169 (depends on hotel)

3 nights = £192-£226, extra night = £47-£57

3* B&B, crossing for car + 2 people 2 nights = £55 (crossing)  + £88 accommodation

These are just rough figures to indicate that this event need not cost a fortune to attend - and there will be camping options available as well.

That weekend also hosts the Isle of Man Rally, and the Isle of Man Food Festival, both great events, and it is planned Stan Dibben and a TT Sidecar star would do an evening event, so you won't be bored!

What Next?

For now we just want to know if there is sufficient interest to make this happen. Later on we will be looking for some commitment, so that we know whether we can reach our target of 70 outfits, and so that we can maximise  any discounts on ferry travel and accommodation.
